Pilz at SPS – Smart Production Solutions 2026 - Focus on safe, compliant machinery

The automation company Pilz, based in Ostfildern, is focusing on safe, standard-compliant machinery at SPS – Smart Production Solutions 2026 (24–26 November). In Nuremberg, Pilz will present automation solutions that implement the new EU Machinery Regulation (MR) and increase and ensure productivity, both now and in the future. Additional PILZ topics: seamless communication in the field via IO-Link Safety, area monitoring using radar sensors, and machinery management that complies with standards and directives.

Contents at a glance:

  • Pilz is focusing on the subject of “safe, standard-compliant machinery” at SPS – Smart Production Solutions
  • New product launches: Radar for presence detection, counting and tracking, as well as safety light curtains with IO-Link Safety for the IO-Link Safety system from Pilz
  • Two new services for Industrial Security: Security Evaluation of Machinery (SEM) and Security Assessment of Machinery (SAM)

Among Pilz’s new products at SPS are the safety light curtains PSENopt II Advanced with IO-Link Safety and the radar sensor PSENradar live. The new radar detects moving objects as well as people within a defined area (presence detection), records their movements (counting) and tracks or monitors them (tracking). The safe automation expert is also introducing two new Industrial Security services.

Further expansion to the Pilz IO-Link Safety system

Networking in the manufacturing industry requires seamless, safe communication in the field. At the trade fair, the safe automation expert is showcasing its IO-Link Safety system, which covers both safety and standard communication. Pilz is continuously expanding its portfolio in this area: the new IO-Link Safety light curtains PSENopt II Advanced are now available, alongside the first certified IO-Link Safety Master PDP67 and the control unit PITgatebox IOLS. Visitors to the trade fair can view a model to see how IO-Link Safety implements safe data transfer, laying the foundation for greater machine availability and more flexible automation.

Pilz radar sensor for presence detection, tracking and counting

For area monitoring, Pilz is presenting the latest addition to its range of radar sensors at SPS: with presence detection, tracking and counting functions, PSENradar live enables greater transparency of movements and traffic flows, focusing on safety and productivity in these areas. At the trade fair, Pilz will demonstrate how PSENradar live complements existing access control systems – even in harsh environments – thus ensuring that no operating personnel are present in danger zones. Visitors to the stand can hear Pilz experts explain how PSENradar live can be used to optimise traffic route management.

Focus for Pilz at the trade fair is Industrial Security and the MR

For machine manufacturers and operators, comprehensive Safety is only possible when Industrial Security measures are included – Security for Safety is also a requirement under the MR. With its two new services, “Security Evaluation of Machinery” (SEM) and “Security Assessment of Machinery” (SAM), Pilz supports the implementation of Security for networked plant and machinery. Visitors to the stand in Nuremberg will learn how both these Industrial Security services enable you to identify cyber risks and vulnerabilities on machinery at an early stage. SEM and SAM take into account the requirements set out in the MR and CRA, as well as the associated standards such as IEC 62443 and the forthcoming standard EN 50742.
Pilz is also showcasing its MYZEL Lifecycle Platform at the trade fair. This Software-as-a-Service solution combines the management of personnel and machinery in one platform and supports compliance with laws and safety requirements in day-to-day production.

The automation company is also showcasing its solution for safe access and permission management at SPS: with Identification and Access Management (I.A.M.), Pilz offers Safety and Security in a single system.
